ROOT CANAL TREATMENT PROCEDURE
Sometimes Infection Can Appear Inside the Tooth
in the pulpy, soft part underneath the hard white enamel.
One route of treatment is to extract the infected tooth, however a root canal can be performed instead. This can save the infected tooth where the infection isn’t too serious. Local anaesthetic is given to numb the area before treatment is started.
The tooth will be opened through the hard crown to access the soft part of the tooth, then the infected pulp is removed and the opening is filled. Sometimes this treatment needs to happen across multiple sessions however this treatment has a very high success rate and many teeth that would otherwise would have been removed can be healthy for many years after.
